About Irma Pérez

Attorney Irma Pérez has extensive experience in immigration court representing lawful permanent residents with criminal convictions and immigrants with no lawful status but who have strong ties to the United States. In addition, Irma represents immigrants eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), immigrant victims of crimes in U visa petitions, battered spouses in VAWA petitions, families seeking extreme hardship waivers, immigrants seeking to remove conditions on their resident status, and lawful permanent residents with complex naturalization petitions. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Irma is proud to have the privilege to advocate for immigrant communities.

Irma is a previous Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco (J.D., CALI Award for Academic Excellence), and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. (B.A., Government). Irma also studied abroad at the prestigious Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores in Monterrey, México. Previously, Irma was an Associate Attorney at Law Offices of Daniel Shanfield - Immigration Defense, PC. Irma was a staff member and pro bono attorney at the Stanford Immigrants' Rights Clinic, as well as a student advocate at UC Hastings Law School Civil Justice Clinic. In law school, Irma served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Donna M. Ryu, Federal District Court, Northern District of California.

La Abogada Irma Pérez tiene experiencia extensa representando a residentes legales con condenas e inmigrantes sin estado legal pero quienes tienen vínculos fuertes en los Estados Unidos frente a la corte de inmigración. Además, Irma representa a inmigrantes elegibles para acción diferida para los llegados en la infancia (DACA), victimas inmigrantes de crímenes en solicitudes de visa U, cónyuges maltratados en solicitudes de VAWA, familias pidiendo perdones de sufrimiento extremado, inmigrantes buscando retirar las condiciones en el sus estados de residente, y residentes legales con solicitudes de ciudadanía complejos. Como hija de inmigrantes mexicanos, Irma se siente orgullosa de tener el privilegio de abogar por su comunidad migrante.

En el pasado, Irma fue Presidenta del capitulo del Valle de Santa Clara de la Asociación Americana de Abogados de Inmigración (AILA por sus siglas en inglés). Ella se graduó de la Universidad de California, Facultad de Derecho de Hastings en San Francisco (J.D., Premio CALI por Excelencia Académica) y la Universidad de Georgetown en Washington, D.C. (B.A., Gobierno). Irma también estudio en el extranjero en el prestigioso Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores en Monterrey, México. Previamente, Irma era abogada socia en Law Offices of Daniel Shanfield – Immigration Defense, PC. Irma también formaba parte del personal y era abogada sin cobrar en la Clínica de Derechos de Inmigrantes en Stanford, además de ser una estudiante defensora en la Clínica de Justicia Civil de la Facultad de Derechos de UC Hastings. Mientras estudiaba derecho, Irma completo una practica jurídica con la Hon. Donna M. Ryu, Corte del Distrito Federal, Distrito del Norte de California.
